Hey!...My plate is still full! Did I order seconds!?

HA! Bill ( my fiance) just looked at me and said..."turkey would taste good when we get back". He is actually thinking about what to eat when I get home in three weeks!? WHAT?  I should ask him what I am fixing two days from now so I don't have to plan it.

I have been steadily working towards finishing up some projects before the big trip. Over the last few days I planned on getting the dishwasher in and a door moved to a different wall at my daughter's house. TA DA! Dishwasher works! The old door has been taken out, framed up and drywalled. The new door opening is there...but now so is a wall opening and ceiling opening....hmm....why am I never satisfied with "good enough"? Now I will be framing in the wall again, leveling the floor on the room adjacent to bathroom, replacing the ceiling in that room, moving a floor register (and replacing the tiles where it used to be), putting in a threshold running all new trim and rerouting some plumbing....tearing out all the kitchen cabinets and plaster....etc...etc...etc...just wanted to move the door and have a working dishwasher...oh well, give a mouse a cookie and it wants a glass of milk....

So after my triumphant victory over the dishwasher installation I was sitting at home, actually lying in bed, and my phone rings. Instantly filled with dread,  I am picturing flooding all through the house from my handywork. I picked up the phone and I asked, "what happened?"  My sweet daughter's voice on the other side says, "Can I have a kitten?" ..................

NO! I tell her....
So...here is her kitten.....

To my full plate, with love...

I may have unwittingly lead you guys to believe I am already on my comfy, 13 hour (please stop the ride!), air cruise overseas...nope...not yet!  There are a few things I intend on getting behind me before Teresa and I get Shanghaied on the slow flight to China.

I need to install a dishwasher ( I ran all the water and drain lines under the house today. I am not fond of the dirt part of my basement, by the way); put in a base cabinet; move the bathroom door to a different wall (take out part of a wall in the bathroom to frame the doorway...then hang the door); Frame in the wall where the other door was....drywall it, mud it, sand it, prime it...  I do have to go back to Lowe's and get a different door...I wasn't paying attention and I got a right hand door. Of course, I need a left hand door. Total waste of my back carrying it into the house...

Bill (the sweetest) will fix all the electrical connections so the dishwasher will actually work. Then he also has to move some wiring out of the wall where I want the door. Then the refrigerator will go on the wall where the old door used to be.  The house has more doors in it than I have ever seen! There are 4 doors leading in and out of the kitchen! That is why I am moving the bathroom door...wall space!

Next on the list is finishing the privacy fence. It is up but it needs a few more screws in it so it will stay that way. Also the gate hinges I used weren't as strong as I had hoped...now the gate is just an oversized opening. New hinges on Saturday if it doesn't rain on me.

Then the Fantasy Football Draft! I have no idea what I am doing. Bill and I have been reading stats and blogs and whatever any self proclaimed expert would put out there. We will dominate. No question.

I feel like I am forgetting something I am supposed to do...if anyone knows, remind me.

Then off to China!!!! We leave on the 3rd of Sept. out of Roanoke. We are fortunate to leave from our own town. There is a drastic 6 hour layover in Detroit. Last chance for a walk for a while so we might as well enjoy it.  Chelsea (Teresa's daughter that we are visiting in China) has a big itenerary set up for us. I can't wait!

Learning to blog.

The fear is ridiculous. I am a grown woman. Blog for goodness sake! I just started this on my computer and am now trying to use the smart phone to make a message. (Finding out that I have to actually hold down the shift key to capitalize! Old school! )

My first experience that I will have you tagging along on will be to Beijing, China. First time out of the country for me and I don't want it to go undocumented. I hope you enjoy the trip as much as I do.
